An informative article in Politico (of all places) on micro housing. Units of 
200-400 square feet being approved in major cities -- Seattle, San Francisco, 
New York.

Lots of other statistics as well -- 25% of all households are single dwellers. 
This number is likely to keep rising with the number of people delaying or 
skipping marriage, older women, and it becoming more acceptable to be single. 
The expectation is no longer than the world moves in couples.
