Hi Kate. I am a member of LIberty Village Cohousing. I would say there is no one process. There are a few questions you can ask yourself that may point you in a direction: Do you have an agreed-upon mission and/or vision statement? If so, that is a good place to keep going back to. If not, some of the work you do to create one may lessen some of the conflict. Are you able to communicate openly as a group? If someone has a complaint, do they feel comfortable bringing it up at meetings? If not, you can start with exercises in the books mentioned recently on consensus and facilitation that begin to allow people to share more openly in a group. Do you have experienced facilitators? We not only use our facilitators for meetings but they will talk to a small group or a few people who are having conflict and help work it out. In my opinion, a lot of conflict can be resolved by learning to listen and really get what the other person is saying, whether individually or in a group. Good luck.
