Hi Matt,
We have two facilities which fall under the "workshop"
category.
One, which we call a "crafts room" is supposed to be used
for non/low toxic activities.  (working with clay, painting
with paints which are not volatile, etc.)
We have another workshop, which is for dirtier activities:
Welding, woodwork, etc.  This might be the kind of space
you're thinking about. 
BTW - the first workshop is a part of the CH, and if more toxic stuff was
used there, it could be difficult to keep the contamination within that
room only.  The other workshop is in a free-standing  building which is
somewhat removed from the houses and
other common facilities.
