But if you measure work in the community as a total number, why does it matter where it is put in? One reason for looking at this is that we have people want to expend their major work effort in the kitchen. They love to cook for large groups. Other people don't get home in time to do many other things and want their weekends free for trips. They are happy to clean up. Maybe there will come a time when the kitchen tasks seem overwhelming and larger than other tasks but at the moment that doesn't seem like it will be the case.
