We allow owners to reserve the common House for
events as long as the responsible owner is present and
sees that rules are followed, particularly vis a vis
clean up and security. Generally people include the
information whether it is a private or open to all in
the community event. Occasionally we have clean up
related complaints. But it works well for the most
part and we have many kinds of things happening in our
Common House: Poker nights, Settlers of Catan
Potlucks, birthday parties, New CoHo group organizing
meetings, workshops (usually coho related ones),
Memorials, a Bris, monthly meetings (usually of groups
that our owners are a members of), Extended Family
Thanksgivings, Passover Seders, pumpkin carvings,
music performances, graduation parties, movie nights,
etc. It feels like a comfortable mix. The sign up
process is first come, first served except that we
have a rule that you can't sign up for high use
holiday times more than 6 month's in advance.
